McGill Withholds Student Fees from AUS

Those of us Arts students who were up late last evening were treated to a posting by AUS President Dave Marshall, specifically a public letter on behalf of this year’s AUS Executive. It seems that Deputy Provost Mendelson is withholding the AUS’ student fees (basically their funding base) until their auditing difficulties have been satisfied. For those unaware, the AUS recently had to pay a hefty load of back taxes to the federal government due to poor past accounting practices. To account for these difficulties, the Arts Undergraduate Society has undergone significant auditing.

The consequences of this decision for the AUS’ ability to deliver services remains somewhat unclear. I’m sure we will learn more in the coming days. Until then, I’ll let McGill students come to their own conclusions. You can read the public letter in its complete form below:
